UK garden market up by three per cent in 2018

The UK garden market grew last year by 3 per cent. It has a volume of GBP 5.7 bn. These figures have been published by the Horticultural Trades Association. According to the January 2019 issue of HTA Market Update, house plants were star performers, up by 15 per cent. Christmas categories saw strong growth with November sales up 9 per cent on 2017. Around 2 300 garden centres in Great Britain were recorded. The start of the year 2019 also went very positively according to the report. In January, sales of house plants and indoor plants were up by 17 per cent and 13 per cent respectively when compared with January 2018. Garden sundries grew by around 9 per cent, catering sales rose by 10 per cent.
