Hornbach looks to expand in Sweden with more compact stores

Hornbach aims to expand further in Sweden with smaller stores than those opened hitherto. "We still see great growth potential in Sweden. Following the big city outlets with retail areas in excess of 14 000 m², we are now targeting rather more compact stores in medium-sized cities and municipalities," commented Wolfger Ketzler, the board member of Hornbach Baumarkt AG whose brief includes expansion. The reason for this statement is the opening of the sixth Hornbach store in Sweden in Borås, in the south of the country. The store opens today, 27 September 2018, exactly 50 years to the day after the company launched its first store in Bornheim in Germany. Two further outlets in Sweden are already in the pipeline, to be opened in Kristianstad (2019) and Trollhättan.
