Focus on the Irish Market

According to the latest version of the Global Home Improvement Report, carried out by EDRA and fediyma, the Irish home improvement market represents 0.2{2920dc35e13aa575d381a963680550d7ab92ea574880ecc82f11a0ccc4bb06ae} of worldwide DIY sales and has shown some growth in recent years. As the above graph demonstrates, the Irish home improvement market is worth €1 Billion. With a GDP per capita of 74,000 US $ Ireland has more than double the average GDP per capita of Europe (at 36,000 US $).

The home ownership in Ireland is high, at 70{2920dc35e13aa575d381a963680550d7ab92ea574880ecc82f11a0ccc4bb06ae}, which should correlate with high DIY expenditure, however DIY expenditure per capita is slightly lower than the European average at 218 € in comparison to 226 €. This may be due to the lower than average percentage of the population that live in cities (63{2920dc35e13aa575d381a963680550d7ab92ea574880ecc82f11a0ccc4bb06ae}).

Considering that data above it seems that the Irish market can provide information in how to succeed in a low population density environment.
