The Swedish retailer Byggmax Group has entered 2019 with a positive first-quarter performance. Sales of the group, which currently operates 163 stores, including 108 in Sweden, 44 in Norway and eleven in Finland, totalled SEK 715.4 mio, signifying an increase of 7.5 per cent in net sales. The Byggmax DIY store distribution channel, which accounts for 90 per cent of sales, grew by 10.6 per cent to SEK 641.3 mio. Adjusted for retail area and currency effects, the increase was 3.1 per cent. However, the Skånska Byggvaror distribution channel (overall share of sales 7.5 per cent) suffered a decline of 17.2 per cent to SEK 55.7 mio. In 2019 the company aims to open twelve new stores and eight garden departments. An upgrade to the Byggmax 3.0 concept is in the pipeline for 15 existing stores.
