Adeo sets itself apart from the European competition

The distance between the French Groupe Adeo as number 1 among the European DIY store operators and its competition continues to grow. That is according to the top 10 ranking of DIY store companies in Europe which has been put together by Dähne Verlag. According to this, the French increased their net sales last year by more than 14 per cent to around EUR 18.842 bn. In contrast, the British Kingfisher group lost 2.2 per cent to EUR 13.287 bn – however this is calculated in euros while the Brits themselves make up their balance sheets in British pounds. Sales made by the number 3 in the ranking isn’t even half as much: the German market leader achieved a volume of EUR 6.271 bn with growth of more than three per cent. The seven other companies among the frontrunners in the European DIY trade are Bauhaus (D), Hornbach (D), Hagebau (D), Rautakesko (FIN), Bricomarché (F), Rewe (including Toom, D) and the Stark Group (DK).
When sales of the ten largest European companies in the DIY store trade are added together, the result is a total volume of EUR 59.345 bn in 2017. That was 3.5 per cent more than the previous year.
Five years earlier, the total sales of the European top 10 still amounted to EUR 51.458 bn.  Thus, this figure has grown by 15.3 per cent since 2012. In comparison: Adeo increased its sales in this period by more than 44 per cent.
